Vines under the best climatic conditions

And with a view of the Stanserhorn!

It couldn't be more idyllic. As host Fränzi Mohn and chef Jens Wiedehöft made their way towards Kastanienbaum, they couldn't stop marvelling at the surroundings. "Wow, it's so peaceful here," enthuses Fränzi, who comes from the mountains of Graubünden. Upon arriving at Kastanienbaum, the pair are treated to an interplay of shadows and evening sun. It could hardly be more mystical. The vines enjoy ideal climatic conditions here. The proximity to the lake has only advantages. In summer it cools the air, in winter the sun reflects its warmth. The winery started in 1981 with one hectare of vines. Over the last 40 years, this has grown to seven hectares. Two years ago, Kevin Studer and Denis Koch took over the winery from Toni Ottiger. They are now passionately at work and are just as committed to sustainability as they are to promoting the canton of Lucerne as a wine-growing region.

When the new gastronomic concept "Essence of the Alps" was realised, it was clear to Fränzi Mohn, herself a passionate wine connoisseur, that the sparkling wine should also come from the local area. It was quickly decided that the two sparkling wines "Petit Mousseux Extra-Brut" and "Vin Mousseux Brut AOC" had to be tasted. "I really liked the sparkling wines," says the Stanserhorn restaurateur, who at first could hardly believe that such fine wines could be grown on Lake Lucerne. "It must be the great view of the Stanserhorn..."

The sparkling wines from Kastanienbaum are excellent as an aperitif, but also go well with fish and asparagus. That's why these fine Lucerne sparkling wines are also served at the popular candlelit dinners. We know that these exclusive dinners are the perfect setting to propose to the love of your life. Unfortunately, there are no statistics on this. What is certain, however, is that with a magnificent sunset and a glass of sparkling wine from Kehrsiten, you can set the course for a promising future.
